22nd Annual Cinequest Film Festival

San Jose, CA--The 22nd Annual Cinequest Film Festival came to a close on Sunday, Mar. 11th, 2012 with encore screenings of the jury and audience award winning films, announced the previous evening at the Closing Film and Awards ceremony, and other festival favorites. Recognized as one of the world's top 10 festivals, Cinequest hosted screenings and events Feb. 28-Mar. 11 in downtown San Jose at Camera 12 Cinema, SJ Repertory, and the California Theater, smashing all previous records for film submissions, attendance and box office sales.

Luc Besson's The Lady, a provocative political-romantic drama depicting the life of Burmese activist Sung San Suu Kyi, kicked off the festival at the California Theater on February 28th. Terrence Davies' The Deep Blue Sea, a powerful drama starring Oscar winner Rachel Weisz as a woman willing to sacrifice her marriage and social standing for a doomed love affair, was the closing night feature, also at the California Theater, on March 10th.

Cinequest 2011: 21st Anniversary Wrap-up

San Jose, CA--The 21st Annual Cinequest Film Festival came to a close on Sunday, Mar. 13th, 2011 with encore screenings of the jury and audience award winning films, announced the previous evening at the Closing Film and Awards ceremony, and other festival favorites. Recognized as one of the world's top 10 festivals, Cinequest hosted screenings and events March 1-13 in downtown San Jose at Camera 12 Cinema, SJ Repertory, and the California Theater, smashing all previous records for film submissions, attendance and box office sales.

John Turturro's Passione, a spectacular and beautiful love poem to the city of Naples, Italy, kicked off the festival at the California Theater on March 1st, and Soul Surfer, the true and inspirational story of shark-mauled surfer Bethany Hamilton starring AnnaSophia Robb, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt, closed the Festival on March 13th.
